- Make sure that what you wear stands out from the crowd. E.g. If the theme is black and white, wear red. Dare to be different!
- When it comes around to the actual party, it is essential that you go around and speak to everyone. Try and do this as quickly as you can as it will make people feel more at home and their night more enjoyable. Even though they may not show it, people always feel awkward going into someone else’s house for the first time. So make sure you are hospitable.
- Being a 16th, there shouldn’t be any alcohol. However, be creative with the drinks. Make fancy mocktails with different fruits in them as well as having the regular soft drinks. Use paper cups to avoid breakages.

- When the LAST person leaves (and I emphasise LAST person), start tidying up. Even if you only manage to do half the job, cleaning will be much easier in the morning than not having done anything at all. Just picking up empty cups and food scraps before retiring can ease the load. You can enjoy opening all those wonderful presents hassle free.
